การวัดระดับทักษะทางภาษาอังกฤษที่จำเป็นครบทั้ง 4 ทักษะ
หลักสูตรอินเตอร์เกือบทุกแห่งในไทยยินดีรับผลสอบ IELTS
และถือเป็นหนึ่งในข้อสอบที่มีผู้สอบมากที่สุด

 

โดยหลักสูตรที่เป็นที่นิยม มักต้องการผล IELTS ในระดับ 6.0-7.0 ในขณะที่หลักสูตรอื่นๆอาจยินดีรับผลที่น้อยลง เช่น 5.0-5.5 (จากคะแนนเต็ม 9.0) โดยหากต้องการสมัครเรียนหลักสูตรนานาชาติในไทย จะต้องเลือกการสอบแบบ IELTS Academic (ยกเว้นจะกำหนดไว้แบบอื่น) แต่หากจะสมัครเรียนหลักสูตรในประเทศอังกฤษ จะต้องเลือกการสอบที่เรียกว่า IELTS UKVI โดยข้อสอบทั้งสองแบบมีเนื้อหาที่เหมือนกัน

การทดสอบจะแบ่งออกเป็น 4 ส่วน คือ

1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Writing
4. Speaking

การสอบใน 3 หมวดแรก คือ Listening, Reading และ Writing จะต้องสอบภายในวันเดียวกันโดยไม่มีการพักระหว่างการสอบ ส่วนวันสอบ Speaking นั้นขึ้นอยู่กับศูนย์สอบจะกำหนด โดยจะทำการสอบในวันเดียวกับการทดสอบในหมวดอื่นๆ หรือภายใน 2 วันก่อนหรือหลังการทดสอบในหมวดอื่นๆ

 

Listening: 40 นาที

(ฟังเนื้อเรื่อง 30 นาทีและตอบคำถาม 10 นาที)

ผู้สอบจะต้องฟังเนื้อเรื่องจากเทปเนื้อเรื่องประกอบด้วยการสนทนาและบทพูดรวมทั้งความหลากหลายของการออกเสียงและสำเนียงท้องถิ่นที่ปะปนกัน ผู้สอบจะได้ฟังบทสนทนา 1 ครั้งและมีเวลาให้ในการอ่านและตอบคำถาม

 

Reading: เวลา 60 นาที 

เนื้อเรื่องมีทั้งหมด 3 เรื่องประกอบไปด้วยเนื้อหาที่นำมาจากหนังสือ นิตยสาร บทความและหนังสือพิมพ์โดยเน้นเขียนให้ผู้อ่านที่ไม่ใช่ผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะทาง ข้อสอบ 1 ชุดจะมีจำนวนนี้อย่างน้อยที่สุดจะมีเรื่องหนึ่งที่มีลักษณะเชิงอภิปราย

 

Writing: เวลา 60 นาที 

แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ส่วนโดยในส่วนแรก (Task 1) ผู้สอบต้องเขียนรายงานอย่างน้อย 150 คำตามตารางและแผนภาพเพื่อแสดงความสามารถในการบรรยายและอธิบายข้อมูล ส่วนที่ 2 (Task 2) ผู้สอบต้องเขียนเรียงความอย่างน้อย 250 คำเพื่อโต้ตอบข้อคิดเห็นหรือปัญหาโดยแสดงความความสามารถในการอภิปรายโต้แย้งและใช้สำนวนการเขียนที่เหมาะสม

 

Speaking: เวลา 10-14 นาที

เนื้อหาการทดสอบการพูดจะเป็นการสัมภาษณ์แบบตัวต่อตัวโดยผู้สมัครจะได้รับการประเมินในส่วนของการใช้ภาษาเพื่อตอบคำถามสั้นๆ พูดเกี่ยวกับหัวข้อที่คุ้นเคยและสามารถโต้ตอบกับผู้สัมภาษณ์ได้

โดยการสอบจะเรียงลำดับจาก Listening, Reading และ Writing ส่วน Speaking อาจจะสอบในวันเดียวกันในช่วงอื่นๆหรือไม่ก็เป็นวันอื่นๆ

 

IELTS คะแนนเต็มเท่าไร?

คะแนนของการสอบ IELTS เริ่มตั้งแต่ 0 ไปจนถึง 9.0 ซึ่งคะแนนนี้เรียกว่า Band Score โดยคะแนนที่ได้จะลงท้ายด้วย .0 หรือ .5 เท่านั้น ในการคำนวณคะแนนสอบจะนำคะแนนดิบ (Raw Score) มาแปลงค่า ซึ่งหากคำนวณได้ Band Score ลงท้ายด้วย .25 ระบบจะทำการปัดค่าเป็น .5 ให้โดยอัตโนมัติ และหากคำนวณได้ Band Score ลงท้ายด้วย .75 ระบบจะทำการปัดค่าเป็น .0 ให้โดยอัตโนมัติเช่นกัน ตัวอย่างเช่น สอบ Listening ได้ 6.0, Reading ได้ 6.0, Speaking ได้ 6.0, Writing ได้ 5.0 รวมทั้ง 4 ส่วนได้ 23 คะแนน นำไปหาร 4 เพื่อคำนวณคะแนน Band Score ได้ 5.75 ระบบจะออกใบรายงานผลคะแนนให้ที่ 6.0 เป็นต้น

 

IELTS เปิดสอบเมื่อไร?

การสอบ IELTS มีรูปแบบการสอบให้เลือก 2 แบบคือ

1. แบบกระดาษ: เปิดสอบ 4 ครั้งต่อเดือน โดย 3 ครั้งเป็นวันเสาร์และ 1 ครั้งเป็นวันพฤหัสบดี
2. แบบคอมพิวเตอร์: เปิดสอบเกือบทุกวัน มีรอบสอบให้เลือกวันละหลายรอบ (หากมีรอบว่าง)

สิ่งที่แตกต่างกัน

👉 แบบคอมพิวเตอร์จะได้รับผลสอบใน 3-5 วันทำการ ส่วนแบบกระดาษจะได้รับผลสอบใน 13 วันทำการ
👉 รูปแบบการสอบต่างกัน คือในส่วน Listening, Reading, Writing แบบคอมพิวเตอร์จะทำข้อสอบผ่านคอมพิวเตอร์ ส่วนแบบกระดาษจะทำผ่านกระดาษ

หน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบจัดสอบ IELTS ในประเทศไทย

โทร 02 638 3111 ศูนย์สอบในกรุงเทพฯมีอยู่หลายแห่ง เช่น Column Bangkok Hotel สุขุมวิท 16 ส่วนศูนย์สอบในต่างจังหวัดอยู่ที่เชียงใหม่ หาดใหญ่ ภูเก็ตและขอนแก่น (สำหรับการทดสอบแบบกระดาษ) ส่วนการทดสอบแบบคอมพิวเตอร์มีศูนย์สอบให้เลือกหลายแห่ง ซึ่ง IDP จะไม่ส่งผลแบบกระดาษมาให้ผู้สอบ แต่จะจัดส่งผลสอบไปให้คณะต่างๆได้ 10 คณะโดยไม่มีค่าธรรมเนียม ภายใน 3-10 วันทำการ (หากต้องการส่งเพิ่ม มีค่าธรรมเนียม 550 บาท/ คณะ)

IELTS

measures English proficiency across four essential skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Most international programs in Thailand accept IELTS scores, making it one of the most widely taken exams globally.

 

Famous international programs often require an IELTS score between 6.0–7.0, while some programs accept lower scores such as 5.0–5.5 (out of 9.0). If applying to international programs in Thailand, the IELTS Academic test is required unless stated otherwise. For applications to the UK, IELTS UKVI is required, though the content is the same for both tests.

Test Sections and Format

1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Writing
4. Speaking

Listening, Reading, and Writing are tested on the same day without breaks. Speaking may be conducted on the same day or within two days before or after.

 

Listening: 40 Minutes

    • Listen to conversations and monologues with a mix of accents.
    • Includes 30 minutes of listening and 10 minutes for answering questions. 

Reading: 60 Minutes 

    • Three passages from books, magazines, articles, or newspapers.
    • One passage may include a discussion format.

Writing: 60 Minutes 

    • Task 1: Write a 150-word report based on a chart or diagram.
    • Task 2: Write a 250-word essay responding to a question or issue. 

Speaking: 10-14 Minutes

    • A face-to-face interview assessing conversational skills.
    • Includes short answers, discussions on familiar topics, and interactive responses.

The exam will be in the following order: Listening, Reading, and Writing. The Speaking test may either be on the same day at a different time or on a different day.

 

How is IELTS Scored?

  • Scores range from 0 to 9.0 in bands ending in .0 or .5.
  • Raw scores are converted into band scores. For example:
  • If the band ends in .25, it rounds up to .5.
  • If the band ends in .75, it rounds up to the next whole number.
  • Example: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 5.0, Speaking 6.0. Total = 23 ÷ 4 = 5.75, rounded to 6.0.

 

When Can You Take IELTS?

Two formats are available:

  1. Paper-Based: Offered four times a month (three Saturdays, one Thursday).
  2. Computer-Based: Available almost daily, with multiple time slots if space permits.

Key Differences:

  • Computer-Based: Results available in 3–5 business days.
  • Paper-Based: Results available in 13 days.

Similarities:

  • Same fees.
  • Speaking test with an examiner (face-to-face or via video call).
