หนึ่งในคุณสมบัติสำคัญที่หลักสูตรต่างๆจะใช้คัดเลือกเพื่อเข้าเรียน
ในระดับปริญญาตรีที่สหรัฐอเมริกา และหลักสูตรนานาชาติส่วนใหญ่ในไทย
ข้อสอบ SAT มีเนื้อหาใน 2 กลุ่มวิชา
คือ Mathematics และ Reading & Writing
คะแนนเต็มในแต่ละส่วนคือ 800 คะแนน
ดังนั้นคะแนนเต็มของวิชานี้คือ 1,600 คะแนน
โดยคะแนนเฉลี่ยทั้งโลกของผู้สอบในแต่ละส่วนจะอยู่ที่ประมาณ 530 คะแนน ทั้งนี้ต้องตรวจสอบกับหลักสูตรที่ต้องการสมัครว่าต้องการผล SAT ในส่วนไหน เช่น
👉 หลักสูตรทางด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ มักต้องการผล SAT ในส่วน Mathematics เท่านั้น โดยมักต้องการผลในระดับ 600-650 คะแนนขึ้นไป
👉 หลักสูตรทางด้านภาษา/สังคมศาสตร์ มักต้องการผล SAT ในส่วน Reading & Writing เท่านั้น โดยมักต้องการผลในระดับ 450-500 คะแนนขึ้นไป
👉 หลักสูตรทางด้านบริหารและเศรษฐศาสตร์ของจุฬาฯและธรรมศาสตร์ต้องการผลสอบทั้งสองส่วน โดยคะแนนที่ดีอยู่ในระดับ 1,300 คะแนนขึ้นไป ส่วนมหาวิทยาลัยอื่นๆมักต้องการเพียงผล Mathematics

สมัครสอบ SAT ยังไง?
การสมัครสอบ SAT สามารถทำผ่านทางเว็บไซท์ของ College Board ซึ่งเป็นองค์กรที่รับผิดชอบการสอบ SAT โดยต้องสร้าง ID ก่อน คลิกที่นี่เพื่อสมัครสอบ
เนื้อหาและเวลาในการทำข้อสอบ SAT
ในปี 2023 การสอบ SAT ได้เปลี่ยนเป็นแบบ Digital SAT หรือการสอบผ่าน device เช่น Tablet, Laptop ซึ่งผู้สอบจะเตรียมอุปกรณ์ไปสอบที่ศูนย์สอบเอง (ไม่ได้สอบจากที่บ้าน)
ข่าวดีคือเวลาในการทำสอบ Digital SAT (ไม่รวมการพัก) จะเหลือ 2 ชม. 14 นาที จากเดิม 3 ชม.
แม้จะมีเนื้อหาเพียง 2 กลุ่มวิชาคือ Mathematics และ Reading & Writing แต่ในแต่ละกลุ่มจะแบ่งการสอบออกเป็น 2 Module
Mathematics (Module ละ 22 ข้อ 35 นาที รวมทั้งหมด 44 ข้อ 70 นาที) ใช้เครื่องคิดเลขในข้อสอบ Math ได้ทุกข้อ โดยจะมีโปรแกรมเครื่องคิดเลขให้ หรือนำเครื่องคิดเลขมาเองก็ได้ Reading & Writing (Module ละ 27 ข้อ 32 นาที รวมทั้งหมด 54 ข้อ 64 นาที) โดยคำถามในส่วน Reading (อ่าน Passage และตอบคำถาม) กับคำถามในส่วน Writing (วัดการใช้ Grammar) จะถูกถามปนกันในแต่ละ Module โดยในส่วนของคำถาม Reading จะไม่มี Passage ยาวระดับเกือบ 1,000 คำ เพื่อใช้ตอบคำถาม 10-11 ข้อ แต่ว่าข้อสอบ Digital SAT จะเป็น Passage สั้นๆ 25-150 คำเพื่อใช้สำหรับตอบคำถามในแต่ละข้อ
รวมแล้วใช้เวลาในการทำข้อสอบทั้งสิ้น 2 ชั่วโมง 14 นาที (ไม่รวมเวลาพัก)
Multistage Adaptive Testing
การสอบ SAT เป็นแบบ Multistage Adaptive Testing กล่าวคือ
1. การสอบในส่วน Math และ RW ใน Module แรก จะมีคำถามปนกัน ทั้งระดับ “easy”, “medium”, “hard”
2. การสอบในส่วน Math และ RW ใน Module ที่สอง จะมีคำถามที่ “ยากขึ้น” หรือ “ง่ายลง” ตามผลงานที่ทำได้ใน Module แรก
3. หากทำคะแนนใน Module แรกของแต่ละส่วนได้สูงตามเกณฑ์ ผู้สอบจะได้ข้อสอบที่ยากขึ้นใน Module ที่สอง ซึ่งมาพร้อมกับโอกาสได้คะแนนที่มากขึ้น ทั้งนี้การสอบ Math และ RW จะถูกแยกออกจากกัน เช่น Module แรกได้คะแนน Math ดีมากๆ แต่คะแนน RW แย่มากๆ ใน Module ที่สองจะได้ข้อสอบ Math แบบยาก แต่ได้ RW แบบง่าย ดูวิธีคิดคะแนนแบบคร่าวๆได้ที่นี่
ค่าสอบ SAT เท่าไร?
ตั้งแต่รอบสอบ Aug 2024 ค่าสอบอยู่ที่ $111 (ประมาณ 4,000 บาท)
ศูนย์สอบ SAT อยู่ที่ไหน?
ศูนย์สอบ SAT มักจะอยู่ในโรงเรียนนานาชาติหรือมหาวิทยาลัยในไทย โดยในปี 2024 มีศูนย์สอบดังนี้
– ประมาณ 30 แห่งในกรุงเทพฯและปริมณฑล
– 5 แห่งในเชียงใหม่
– 5 แห่งในภูเก็ต
– 3 แห่งในชลบุรี
– 2 แห่งในระยอง
– 2 แห่งในเชียงราย
– 1 แห่งในสระบุรี
– 1 แห่งในอุดรธานี
– 1 แห่งในชุมพร

รอบสอบ SAT มีเมื่อไร?
การสอบ SAT ในไทยจะถูกจัดขึ้น 8 ครั้งต่อปี คือในเดือน Mar, May, Jun, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec (สอบวันเสาร์ช่วงเช้าทุกรอบ) โดย College Board จะประกาศรอบสอบทั้ง 8 รอบนี้แบบเป็นทางการทางเว็บไซท์ในช่วงเดือนพฤษภาคมของแต่ละปี โดยน้องๆสามารถตรวจสอบวันสอบล่วงหน้าแบบไม่เป็นทางการได้ที่นี่
ผลสอบ SAT จะออกเมื่อไร?
ผลสอบ SAT จะถูกประกาศให้ทราบด้วยการ Login เข้าไปใน account ที่ใช้สมัคร โดยเฉลี่ยประมาณ 2 สัปดาห์หลังวันสอบ โดยบางมหาวิทยาลัยยินดีรับผลสอบที่พิมพ์ออกมา แต่หลายๆมหาวิทยาลัยไม่ยอมรับผลสอบที่พิมพ์ออกมานี้ แต่จะให้ทาง College Board ส่งคะแนนมาให้แทน ซึ่งผู้สอบต้องเข้าไปในระบบและเลือกคณะ/มหาวิทยาลัยที่ต้องการให้ส่งคะแนนไป ทั้งนี้ผู้สอบสามารถเลือกได้ 4 คณะ/มหาวิทยาลัยที่ต้องการส่งคะแนนไปให้ได้ฟรี โดยเลือกตั้งแต่ก่อนสอบไปจนถึง 9 วันหลังสอบเท่านั้น (หากพ้นกำหนดจะมีค่าธรรมเนียม) โดยผลสอบจะถูกจัดส่งไปไม่เกิน 10 วันทำการหลังผลสอบออก ดูรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมที่นี่
หากผู้สอบต้องการส่งคะแนนไปให้คณะ/ มหาวิทยาลัยแบบด่วนที่สุด มีบริการที่เรียกว่า Rush reports ซึ่งมีค่าบริการ $31 บวกกับจำนวนคณะที่ต้องการส่งอีก $14 (เช่น ส่งให้ 1 คณะ จะมีค่าธรรมเนียม $31 + $14 = $45 ถ้าส่งให้ 4 คณะจะมีค่าธรรมเนียม $31 + (4 x $14) = $87) โดยผลจะถูกจัดส่งไปไม่เกิน 4 วันทำการหลังผลสอบออก ดูรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมที่นี่

The SAT is a key criterion used by various programs for selecting students for undergraduate studies in the United States and most international programs in Thailand.
Content of the SAT
The SAT covers two main subject areas: Mathematics and Reading & Writing
Each section has a maximum score of 800, making the total maximum score 1,600.
The global average score for each section is approximately 530. It is important to check the specific program requirements to determine which SAT scores are needed. Examples include:
👉 Engineering Programs: Typically require only the Mathematics section, with a score of 600-650 or higher.
👉 Language/Social Science Programs: Usually require only the Reading & Writing section, with a score of 450-500 or higher.
👉 Business and Economics Programs at Chulalongkorn and Thammasat Universities: Require scores from both sections, with competitive scores starting from 1,300. Other universities may only require Mathematics scores.

Content and Timing of the SAT
Starting in 2023, the SAT has transitioned to the Digital SAT, where the test is taken on devices such as tablets or laptops. Test-takers must bring their own device to the test center (the test cannot be taken from home).
The good news is that the time required for the Digital SAT (excluding breaks) has been reduced to 2 hours and 14 minutes from the previous 3 hours.
Although the test content remains divided into two subject areas—Mathematics and Reading & Writing—each subject is further divided into two modules:
👉 Mathematics
- Each module contains 22 questions, with 35 minutes per module (totaling 44 questions in 70 minutes).
- A calculator can be used for all Math questions. The test provides a built-in calculator, or you may bring your own.
👉 Reading & Writing
- Each module contains 27 questions, with 32 minutes per module (totaling 54 questions in 64 minutes).
- The Reading questions (based on passages) and Writing questions (testing grammar usage) are mixed in each module.
- Long passages of nearly 1,000 words with 10-11 questions have been replaced with shorter passages of 25-150 words, each paired with a single question.
The total testing time is 2 hours and 14 minutes, not including breaks.
Multistage Adaptive Testing
The SAT follows a Multistage Adaptive Testing format, meaning:
- In the first module of both Mathematics and Reading & Writing (RW), questions are a mix of “easy,” “medium,” and “hard.”
- The difficulty level of the second module in Math and RW adjusts based on the performance in the first module.
- If a high score is achieved in the first module of a section, the second module will contain harder questions, offering the chance to earn higher scores. Each section is scored independently, so a strong Math score in the first module results in a harder Math second module, while a poor RW score leads to an easier RW second module.
SAT Test Fees
Starting from the August 2024 test session, the SAT fee is $111 (approximately 4,000 THB).
Where are SAT test centers located?
SAT test centers are usually located in international schools or universities in Thailand. In 2024, the test centers include:
- About 30 locations in Bangkok and its vicinity
- 5 locations in Chiang Mai
- 5 locations in Phuket
- 3 locations in Chonburi
- 2 locations in Rayong
- 2 locations in Chiang Rai
- 1 location in Saraburi
- 1 location in Udon Thani
- 1 location in Chumphon

When are SAT test dates?
The SAT is held eight times per year in Thailand during the months of March, May, June, August, September, October, November, and December (all tests are conducted on Saturday mornings). The official test dates for all seven sessions are announced on the College Board website each May. You can also check unofficial test dates here.
When are SAT scores released?
SAT scores are typically available about two weeks after the test date, accessible via the account used for registration.
- Some universities accept printed score reports, but many require scores to be sent directly by the College Board.
- Test-takers can select up to 4 colleges/universities to send their scores for free, either before the test or up to 9 days after the test. After this period, additional fees apply.
- Scores are sent within 10 business days after they are released.
For expedited score reporting, Rush Reports are available. This service costs $31 plus $14 per college/university. For example:
- Sending to 1 institution: $31 + $14 = $45
- Sending to 4 institutions: $31 + (4 × $14) = $87
Rush Reports are delivered within 4 business days after scores are released.
